WHY USE CERAMIC COATING?
- Ceramic coating was developed by NASA for thermal protection on space vehicles entering the atmosphere. It was then used for industrial applications and later consumer product applications.
- Ceramic coating is a thermal barrier coating (TBC). For example, it reduces the radiant heat from an exhaust pipe up to 60%. This means more power (1 HP for every 10° drop in radiant exhaust temperature) and lower engine compartment temperatures for longer life of spark plug wires and other electronic components. Also, the passenger compartment will be cooler.
- Second, ceramic coating is able to withstand higher temperatures (1400° for polished silver and gray, 2000° for black) making it superior to high temperature paint, powder coating, chrome and other plating. Polished silver ceramic will not turn blue like chrome plating.
- Third, polished silver ceramic coating is more durable than most plating and needs little or no maintenance. Generally, soap and water is only needed for cleaning. Non-abrasive metal polish usually restores the shine of polished silver ceramic.
